Cllr. Dr. Yvette Chesson-Gibson (formerly Chesson-Wureh) is a globally respected Liberian legal luminary, women’s rights advocate, and international peacebuilder.
About us
The Angie Brooks International Centre (ABIC), is an outcome of the International Colloquium on Women’s Empowerment, Leadership Development, International Peace and Security, held in 2009 in Monrovia, Liberia. The Centre promotes women’s empowerment; Leadership development and International Peace and Security throughout Africa. Consistent with its mandate to support the decisions of the Colloquium in line with UNSCR 1325, the Centre actively engages in women’s involvement in peace and security in Liberia and across the African continent.

Our mission is to make sure all young people and children get all the support they need, when they need it, no matter what it is.
Whether it is a reassuring conversation, financial help, education, professional training, or simply the assurance that they are not alone, we will make sure that everyone gets support that meets them where they’re at as quickly as possible.
Our Vision
The Angie Brooks International Centre, which is honoring the late Angie Brooks, Africa's first woman President of the United Nations General Assemble, is also intended to honor women in leadership worldwide. It is envisioned to become a leading global institution and network dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of women's empowerment, leadership development and international peace and security at its headquarter location on the grounds of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Capitol Hill and through several affiliates or counterpart organisations and institutions.
Our entire team wants to see a world where every youngster struggling in any way feels able to reach out and has people who’ll help them with education, jobs, and more. We want to spread out in every region so we’ll be reachable to all.
